While you can raise the odds in your favour by using your resources effectively, you still need the right person to see your resume at the right time. Sometimes you can make that happen without too much effort – but sometimes it seems unreasonably difficult. Most of us have, at some stage in our careers, been in a situation where landing a position or even scoring an interview seems impossible.

When you’re struggling to get a foot in the door, it’s so important to stay positive. It’s all too easy to become frustrated and miserable, but a negative attitude certainly won’t do you any favours. Keeping your chin up with a good attitude will only improve your chances of securing the role you want – but it’s easier said than done.

If you’re struggling with job search disappointment, here are a few ways to help you stay positive.

Shift your focus for a while

While dedication and persistence is often the key to landing a job, obsessing over your employment situation isn’t the way to go.
